Easing my headache with a little bit of ECMA

posted in music, politics |

I should take a couple of aspirin and go lie down, the better to resolve a headache brought on by the accumulation of four hours of political debate. Four hours of my life that I can never get back, might say a wiser man, but I did tune in for two consecutive evenings by choice. And oh, if I only had a choice. Clearly, things in Ottawa haven’t changed for the better, even in 2011. Pity. Maybe we need a different strategy, because what we’re doing right now isn’t working.

Enough.

Sad news for the movie maker with a budget. The Flip is gone. Killed off by the decision of a large corporation to consolidate its product lines. Why couldn’t the bean counters leave well enough alone? We’ve got access to one, need a second; should buy a third just because we can. After all, making a film can’t be that difficult, right?

I jest. I haven’t the foggiest idea about how to recycle my life into cinemaphotography.

The ECMA convention is underway, and the live video feed is back. I had tuned in, just after lunch time, watching with fascination while a couple of roadies did their duty. And then things stopped. Hard. The Aliant server had crashed. IIS 7. Odd how corporate IT people will leave Apache on the shelf and opt for a Microsoft solution that isn’t. Can’t be the costing.

If the ECMA people manage to keep things running, please accept my thanks for the identification screen. The whole point of an artist showcase is to let the rest of us know who is onstage.
