Different ways of doing things

posted in genealogy, media |

Remember when people used to send birthday greetings by the postal system. Back when stamps cost a nickel. And people signed their names with a pen, and XXX didn’t necessarily get you rated as adult content. Well, there are different ways of doing things now.

My baby sister hits FORTY sometime through the night. Happy birthday! Her (and my) nephew decided to go a little Web 2.0 in the town of New Glasgow, NS and went down on Front Street (Provost Street for those who use real maps) to stand in front of the webcam at CKEC radio. Here is a sighting… or at least, a web poster.
It goes without saying that this card arrived in time, unlike the ones that go from sack to slot.

More movie reviews, to end up our triple-header. Pirates Of The Caribbean Part 2 is a little over the top in terms of CGI, but Johnny Depp is ALWAYS (a character) in character. A generation ago we sang the praises of Jerry Lewis. This man is funnier. Worth the effort.

The Canadian gem Bon Cop Bad Cop comes with a true pleasure for some of us: a true bilingual version with no subtitles of any kind. If only some other national media outlets could learn. And, who knew Rick Mercer was a movie star? So many talents in one Newfoundlander! I don’t know how well this one will play in Regina, but here in Quebec it kicks butt!

Another page on the wall calendar will go to recycling in a few hours. I for one have never recycled a calendar…
