Not exactly the president’s man

posted in media |

I have a certain attachment to my local TV news team. An appreciation that brings me back, day after day. Yes, the news might have a minor role to play, but I like watching the talking faces in action. This evening, we were given a thirty minute “blooper reel” after the regular broadcast, and it was good.

Journalism isn’t easy. Good quality, even harder to prepare and present. I watched a news conference with Bob Woodward as the guest, and I came away with a new appreciation of his wit and “depth of field”. Remember All The President’s Men with Robert Redford? Same dude, except the “real one”.

He’s been the chronicle of kings (or the American equivalent) for close to four decades now, and has a shelf of bestselling books to his credit. Some hyperbole along the way? Sure. Does it matter when you are reporting on people that are “larger than life”?

I’ve had a copy of  The Agenda on the night table for several months now. Not that it’s heavy going. Rather, I’m not enough of a Clinton follower to need more than a few pages at a time. The book is still a good read, and I’m going to see if I can add some other Woodward tomes to my personal library.

New extreme sport for the home: putting a mattress cover on a large bed, by oneself. Requires certain skills that aren’t included in the public school curriculum. Probably should be; you don’t want acariens to get the upper hand.
