Shadows

posted in computing |

Another year of my favourite not-yet-a-national-holiday has come and gone. The Marmota monax didn’t see its shadow in Canada, which augurs another forty-two days of winter, but did in the United States, which augurs another six weeks of winter. The old half-full/half-empty glass. The old six-of-one/half-dozen of the other. Whatever. I want my holiday. (repeat rant in 365 days)

My videoconference today was really not a way to show off expensive technology. The sound didn’t work from the other end, so I found a telephone extension cord, took a deskset from one of the absent consultants work areas and put our mathematics team on hands-free with video support. Then I returned roughly every forty minutes throughout the day to reset the whole affair.

In other non-sequiturs, the wife is very proud of her smooth soles. Go figure.
