Passe-Partout; the real master key
Passe-Montagne aime les papillons
Les souliers neufs et les beaux vestons
Passe-Carreau culbute saute et tourne en rond
Où est Passe-Partout… Le nez dedans son baluchon.
1977-11-14 started a dynasty. How often does a government department get it right? Especially the Ministry of Education, with a TV program? How about “Once in a lifetime”? Three dynamic young actors, a whole neighbourhood of puppets and music that will last a lifetime.
Let’s start with a picture.
I won’t add any music, because you either know this stuff or you don’t. If you live in Quebec, you do. Take it from me. We paid our dues. We bought vinyl, we bought cassettes. If there had been a CD player in the house, we’d have bought that too. We sang the songs. A lot. The DVD is only a matter of days away, so that we can assure that any grandchildren will have access. No, to all those in the wings, that is NOT a news bulletin. Bite your tongues.
Now, let’s segue forward three decades and see how our friends have handled the years in between.
Marie Eykel, Claire Pimparé and Jacques L’Heureux appeared on the popular Tout Le Monde En Parle yesterday evening. I missed the opening section because the Cup was still in contention, but then I joined the rest of my neigbours in a virtual love-in.
Passe-Partout is now considered to be the reason for a generation. I won’t say more than that; I have three children that were part of the audience. Suffice to say that we all watched it, and we have no regrets, other than that those days are gone.
