Oh say can you see (my driveway)?
Transportation news kept me on the edge of my chair all afternoon. Canadian transportation news; how often is that newsworthy?
In a land that loves winter enough to involve the rest of the world, BC always does things “differently”. Here we go; let’s move some snow into position so we can have the Olympics. That’ll show the rest of the world how we do things. With BIG trucks.
A certain sector of the population has been planning on the import of natural gas to Canada for some years now. Again, big plans, involving big ships. Rabaska is the name and export to the US is the game. Ignore that narrow river with strong currents; nothing spectacular will ever happen. This morning, as a reminder that we can’t plan for everything in life, a big ship had issues with that river. The Algoma Discovery spent several hours perched on the shore of Ile d’Orléans, waiting for a tow.
The ship.
The sailing plan.
The result.
Just as a reminder… the correct way to sail through there is parallel to the shoreline.
And in some of the best (time-wasting) news of the last year, Google Street View went Pan-Canadian today. More than 150 towns and cities. Pretty much the whole of PEI (except for up west, but that’s one of life’s little mysteries). Finally, I can spend all my free time driving up and down the roads, enjoying great virtual weather and checking out what’s beyond that next bend in the road. In fact, I expect to meet myself sooner or later (we crossed the magic car out on Route 2 one evening).
Tonight, American Idol arrives in Hollywood. Ellen Degeneres gets to settle in, and test her interpersonal dynamics with Simon. Fun for all!
