Just in from the reunion
Cue the music (one of the 1494 versions of Fly Me To The Moon) and sit back for an entire day of remembering. Yes, forty years have gone by, and my chances of getting a lift up there for a peek aren’t very strong. I’ll carry on.
Actually, there’s something moving in seeing the three Apollo 11 astronauts standing with the current president. A tribute to their exploit which might not be repeated, ten years from now. Bathe in the glow, boys. Your place in the history books is assured, even if there are still some people who believe it was all a trick of the cameras. Those same people who also believe that Hollywood can make anything happen; I have one test phrase to throw out: World Peace. ‘Nuf said.
I found a different distraction, this evening. We love reunions, and I’ve spent the last hour vicariously taking part in a retrospection on Musique Plus. That’s the local version of Much Music, which is the local version of MTV, etc. They came on the air about the time that I signed my first contract with the cable company. Since then, rarely a day goes by that I don’t find a few minutes of musical (and visual) diversion with the gang on Channel 30.
In our world of omnipresent music, it only makes sense that video has been added. Great video, in some cases. For the rest, there’s always Dollar-A-Clip to remind us just how bad certain productions appear in the light of day. After an hour at the reunion, I felt as if the time machine was finally functional.
