Shopping in a geeky world

posted in technology |

Four of us decided to seek our supper by a trip to the shopping centre, where we could indulge in “Extreme Pita”. Great sandwiches, in passing. But, since we’d already made the cross-metropolis trek, we spent hours just wandering around buying little odds and ends.

I think I live in a geek family. We spent far too long in Future Shop, delighting in the big TVs and the racks of games we’d never play and the Tom-Tom GPS system for cars in a demo loop that brought a salesperson into satellite range. Then, off to the wizards den of games, cards and costume swords. I did find a book by Neil Gaimen, and there were some interesting multi-element, multi-coloured bulbs in the entry. The rest spent more than an hour admiring gaming manuals. Finally, into a kitchen accessories store to replace the oven mitts which the pup has dethumbed, get some replacement corncob holders and a spice bottle to fit our new rack and a silicone muffin tin. We also decided not to buy a yoghurt incubator today, but that was a randomized decision.
