Virtually stubborn
My home PBX project is truly a blackbox, in the sense where I do things, observe results and then try to figure out what on Earth I am accomplishing. A real puzzle, with what looks to be hours (more) of excitement in store. The big victory today was to have the OS actually recognize that there was hardware of interest installed. This, finally, after a hint from a Mac site that IRQ conflicts could be a factor. I’ve been on this thing for what feels like weeks now, and no other document mentioned the possibility.
Next step is to start looking at the “big picture”. What does a PBX do? I now have a SIP account with a number in the (914) area code: somewhere in the expensive New York suburbs. It should allow people to call me, with their ordinary telephones, as long as the toll charge isn’t a deterrent. I also have a Skype out account, that allows me to call the PBX. Sort of akin to a dog chasing its tail. If I call the number, I get an email with the voicemail attached as a .WAV file. The puzzle gets more strange with each iteration.
So, are we having fun yet? I’m stubborn enough and obsessive enough to think so.
