Bend the rules some more
No love lost here over the random nature of the calendar. Well, one calendar. Vax rules are in flux. Earlier this year, we were assured that two shots and you were good to go. Now there’s a certain level of uncertainty, which can mutate into distrust. We learned that a booster might be needed, for the very old. And then we learned that, perhaps, it would be a good idea for seniors in general. Within a week, that moved to anyone over eighteen.
I’m OK with that, except that the particularities haven’t been updated. We’ve been told that we have to wait for a full six months after shot #2. And, coming right now, that moves MY cohort into mid-January next before my antibodies have aged sufficiently. And that, my friends, is old science. I’d really like to be “fully vaxed” before the holiday travel season, and that just can’t happen (under the current guidelines). I suspect the rules will change, soon; after my travel window. And I’ll have to deal with my incertitude as best I may. Fretting and postponing plans.
Yes, science is evolving. Yes, we now know more than we did before. I just want a “best fit”.
Oh, well. I’m warm, and well fed. The family can always get in touch via Zoom. Or come and visit. Their rules are set by a different team of experts, and I can mesh their status with mine. Come on down, family. It’s just as far from there to here as it is… you know the rest. Plus, we have better weather, and no sudden cold snaps.
