Still among the trees
I did it! In the company of others, some much younger, I went for a walk in the woods. On a trail. Away from the comfort of my mobile home. In fact, I walked far enough to go full circle and return to go. Walking in the woods is good for you (or so I’ve been told). I am still unclear if the risk of cardiac arrest is equalled by the espoused benefits. More research is required.
And with that done, I’m on standby for the next stage of this vacation. Where will I be, by tomorrow night? So many possibilities. For now, I can hear the birds singing, and I’m in out of the heaviest rain showers. I have music in my head, and books in my brain, and I will sleep without frost.
This is the end of the summer, obviously. We could have snow at any time (still unlikely). And the roads between here and where ever we go are paved. No worries.
The dog just sounded the high alert; the others in our party are back from washup duties, and the dog didn’t expect company. Short memory.
Over supper, conversation turned to tourism in Newfoundland. I think we may have sold the others on the features for a trip. I want to go back, also. Now to convince the dog that he can handle kennel life for a few hours. We’re late enough in the cycle that any travel will be next year; winter is coming. And I have other places to see/be before. But, we will return.
