Cat thieves reported

posted in environment |

Congratulations to the student from the city who just received a BA, at the age of sixteen. An achievement.  I must wonder, though. How much of the “total university experience” did the new graduate actually have, along the way? Although I’m a long way removed from my time on campus, there was a lot more going on than simple academics. When the moment for the big 50th anniversary comes around (in 2071), what memories will be among the top ten?

Watching and waiting. Son #2 has a broken car, right now. He’s trying to decide if the vehicle now fits into a category that Ontario school boards use:PTR (prohibitive to repair). I can’t stir the waters, because I’ve never actually owned a car.

In the news, we now have “cat thieves” in the province. Nothing feline. People are removing important components from car exhaust systems, to sell to the scrap yards (and leaving the car as scrap). I wonder if there’s a penalty for such behavior. We no longer hang people…

A new scourge in Ontario real estate: bidding wars for rental units. Greed. And unfortunately, along with leaving a section of the population bound for an underpass near you, the system rewards those who are devoid of scruples.

The boat (almost) went back in the water today. Happily everything fits in the rear of the new car, but the winds were too high to launch. No white-water sailors under this roof. Perhaps later in the week. I mean, I’m living this whole thing vicariously, but it’s an important salute to summer.
