The vandals are at the gates
“This afternoon, the ship hit the man”
Oooh! I really hate autocorrect…
“This afternoon, the shit hit the fan”. There, better. I’ve been watching a really neat movie, set in Washington. A horde of barbarians has taken the Capitol building and stopped democracy. Yes, Hollywood, we know this escaped from one of your think tanks. Sadly, all true. The main stream media might get it wrong, on occasion, but today’s video feed told a story that will be discussed for years to come. The joint session of the House/Senate met to confirm the vote tally from the Electoral College, when a recess was called. The session is still in recess, while a severely under-staffed police force tries to figure out how to get the rowdies to go elsewhere. Tear gas didn’t do the job, and the president (lower case letters required) was holed up in the Oval Office, refusing to answer the phone.
Did anyone foresee such a situation, when the US drafted that precious constitution? How about later on, when more than 27 separate amendments were applied? A lot of history here. And if the barbarians can stick a proverbial stick in the proverbial wheel this easily, the document needs a lot more work. Maybe take a look at that 25th article, for a start.
I’m not supposed to take this personally. I don’t. But when the neighbours are obviously partying out of control, the neighbours need to pay attention. And please, don’t even mention our own government. We don’t hold a tea candle to others, when it comes to doing things with panache.
