Natural selection, in the airline sector
One super skill that I would like to develop? Easy. I want to be able to remember those moments (call them dreams, if you will) that occur when I nap.
Those times when I stretch out on the couch, and the dog hunkers down beside me, and when I close my eyes just long enough to let the creative processes gear up. I believe, without any proof to the contrary, that I have small bursts of thought (call them dreams) where I could actually solve problems. Not mathematical problems; I don’t have that skill. But, I am sure that nap dreams are about as good as it gets in solution-based thinking.
Sorry, but I had to put that out there.
Meanwhile, other folks are preparing to solve the real problem in our world. How to slow the pandemic. In the UK, they plan to lock the world away for several weeks. In the QC, a period of social pause, involving curfews (cold weather isn’t enough incentive to stay inside?). In the US… nothing new. Oh, and here? We haven’t closed the bridge, yet. But we might.
In counterpoint, the airlines don’t want mandatory testing before departure, just yet. Let’s “wing it” for a bit longer. Sorry, couldn’t resist that. But the hit to the corporate bottom line would be too much for shareholders. Imagine if the general population decides to cut back on travel. Is the air in corporate board rooms too rare to sustain intelligent life? Since the pandemic isn’t reason enough, I submit that we should require airline board members to fly, regularly. In coach. Maybe Darwin’s Law will kick in.
