Getting your vaccine in return for risky behavior
Things that we forget: opening the windows during cold weather will also cool off your house. I’m here in short sleeves, feeling a bit of an edge to the air in the room. Checked my weather station data feed, which also includes the “interior temperature”, and we’re down almost two degrees in ten minutes. Guess the plan for the rest of the evening will involve a) a sweater and b) closing those same windows.
I do lead a rather sheltered existence. Haven’t had to worry about traffic in years. The idea of standing at a bus stop seems like something from another lifetime. And shoes. Did you know that with warm floors, the need for sneakers and socks goes right out the window? Not the open window, but you get the idea. Actually, it might not be too late to mix up a cup of hot chocolate. Probably less of a deterrent to a good night’s rest than a double strength espresso (my usual go-to).
There is a level of anticipation over our access to vaccines, here in Canada. Due to the difficulty in procurement of large amounts of those tiny bottles, we have been told to wait our turn. I’m not high enough on the lists to see my personal access happening before late summer, next. So, when I read that snowbirds are ignoring the travel advisories, heading into the high risk area of Florida AND scoring a dose right away, I’m jealous (a little). This isn’t even a case of being able to afford the drug. Down there, someone is putting it on the counter for anyone in my target age group. OK, I’m actually jealous (a lot).
