Unresolved

posted in economy |

The passage of another day without my main laptop isn’t as painful as I would have predicted. Oh sure, there are email accounts that will need to be checked, eventually. And my ongoing family tree work suffers from my not having access to my software. But, really, isn’t this period of “not knowing” just a bit better than having to accept my eventual upgrade to Win 10. After all, I’ve managed to put off for years (literally). A bit longer won’t hurt.

Somewhere, downstairs, I believe I will find a small box containing an external CD drive and a set of recovery discs. Perhaps, by tomorrow, I’ll feel pressure to resolve this. Perhaps.

The government of NB has gone into that dark place where democracy hides after the decision to call  a election. So many hopes for a better future, where control returns to one party, perhaps. Actually, this will be the first campaign of consequence to take place in our pandemic. Think about it:  no door-to-door appeals for mercy. No debates, in the classic sense. The inevitable posters. Lots of posturing about how even disease can’t trip up a change of governance.  This will serve as a bellwether for other places, other egos. Expect renewed pressure on the federal level to seek change, because minority.

I’m waiting on a small coil of CAT-5 that left Moncton (apparently) a full fifteen days ago. The tracking app has sneezed, twice, and now I have the right to request a refund late tomorrow. What are the odds that my package will arrive, late this week, and the richest man in the world won’t notice my “win”? Nah, unlikely.
