Ice cream, now in the neighbourhood
Day two, and my water tank refresh is complete. There is something really satisfying when the nose detects the change from antifreeze to bleach (proof that I probably don’t have “the COVID”, based on known symptoms). There is still the “fill the tank, again” step. It can wait.
This is not an area that gets many new food opportunities. When I received an invitation to go for fresh ice cream, I was intrigued and ready to indulge. At a local tourist venue (the one with the flashing light in the backyard) we now have a confectioner with a vision. Home made ice cream, available on demand. Now, I’d heard about the enterprise, last year. Didn’t visit. Now that the shop is just up the road, I wanted to see for myself.
I only tried two flavours, and based on the tart effect on my tongue, I have to shout out in support of strawberry-rhubarb sherbet. I’ll be back!
What else of note? Well, one of the kids wanted shopping hints for an eventual purchase of an inverter for his car. Sometimes, one must dig a bit deeper. He hoped to take his espresso machine on the road. When I pointed out the current requirement (somewhere north of 1680 watts), he realized that there had to be a more rational approach to the need for good coffee.
My hint? Get an Aeropress. Not exactly espresso, but good enough to fool the blindfolded. Hey, it’s my reserve plan for when we get back into the camping groove. He can purchase the kit, locally, and if it doesn’t meet with his needs he can regift to a brother.
