This feels familiar

posted in health, humour |

Practicing “self isolation”, which is the new norm, isn’t any big deal. I feel like I’ve been doing this for years. Checked with someone nearby, and I have that affirmed. I really do spend a lot of time inside with the dog, while life goes on. I’m good for the stretch ahead.

Others might need some reinforcement, although I won’t be able to illustrate my winning technique. Just be safe, everybody. Wave, nod, smile. Shout if you must. No need to get any closer than you would to any other wild animal, even if the human form has you fooled. They could be a vector. Think about the human race, before rushing over to hug and whatever else it is that some of you do.

This is the first day without out beloved local news programming. I tried to substitute the CTV shows, and then the CBC network stream, but the faces were all unfamiliar, and they kept talking about places that are off-Island. Can we get back to normal? I want my local weather, and stories about local kids that made good (yes, young goats).

There’s actually some fan fiction available on Twitter, where an imagined meeting of the minds in corporate Toronto try to rationalize cutting off the flow of news to (my) centre of the universe. Be careful; if things go downhill, we could have central Ontario trying to understand news from Charlottetown or St. John’s over their dinners (suppers?) That would set the pedulum back on a predicable trajectory.

Our local viral numbers are up by 100%, overnight. From one to two might not seem like a big deal, yet.
