Food prep for the lazy man
Just finished with a quick supper prep. Honestly, I feel like I’ve cheated.
In the cupboard, I found a single container filled with pre-cooked rice, sufficient for one person. And so, rather than taking the traditional route of boiling water and cooking real grains, I’m going with the two-minute method, having found a (pre-cooked) portion of chicken in the fridge. Is this what I’m become, a reheater? Forgive me, chef, for I have taken the easy path. The meal is good, but shouldn’t it require a bit more effort on my part. And for the curious, the reheat is from my microwave oven, which saves so many wasted minutes of stovetop time.
We’re going for a bit of melt and rainfall, according to the probs. I waited through the better part of the afternoon before spending a quarter hour with my shovel, clearing the deck again. Because wet snow gets heavy. I mean, another twenty-four hours and the main part of my deck load would be gone, but why run the risk of distraction followed by a snap freeze? Better to do some exercise, because that is supposed to be good for what might ail me. Not the new virus, but other stuff.
I have to draw attention to the open water, down the hill. I mean, I’m not old enough to have witnessed iceboats in action (although I did tour the display, west of me). However, I do remember when a really large icebreaker got bogged down, a generation ago, and had to be rescued. Times are changing.
