Snap! That’s chilly

posted in environment |

Today is not like yesterday. In terms of temperature, I mean. We went to town and back, only twenty-four hours ago. Clear roads, running water, puddles. Today, when I made the decision to move my green bin out to the end of the driveway, I had to skate. Ice, everywhere. And with that ice, bitter cold.

This evening, I went to my community meeting. Although we had arranged alternate transport, for herself and her community meeting, we modified changed plans. No sense in making the dog practice burrowing under a blanket in the back seat of the car with the air cold enough to cause pain. Of course, we still have open water, so none of this makes sense. I fervently wait for summer.

Another fox visit this afternoon. Interesting to note the flawless fur on one flank (and the mange tracks on the other).

The efforts to interrupt the interrupters continue. I’m referring to the blockades in various parts of the nation that have brought rail transport to a standstill. Already, the port of Halifax is hurting, and shipments of many important things (like heating oil and propane) are halted. Too cold for that sort of a game.

I can’t blame those who are protesting; we, as a nation, have a terrible record. No listening to valid complaints, for example. How else do you get the attention of politicians if you don’t wake up the sleeping (soon to be cold) citizens? I hope that the various proponents of conflict resolution get involved, forthwith. Too many people affected by political stagnation.

It is interesting to note the subjective deafness of a certain part of the Opposition. Wasn’t that what one of their former leaders (Diefenbaker) used to complain about?
