A get things done kind of day
Today was a get things done kind of day. But, first, we had to pamper the automobile. Oil change, done locally. Drop the car off, early. Pick it up before lunch. Along the way, the mechanic will check for other (not obvious to the untrained eye) defects. We like this kind of service, which beats the “service bay at the dealership” model. Recognizing that our car is coming up on an eighth birthday, with a comfortable 200K+ of kilometers on the odometer, it makes sense to pamper. Have you seen the price of a new car?
As for getting things done, that was mainly dropping off stuff. Like my lab bag. I am left flustered when the person at the reception calls me by name, because I have no (NO) idea who it was. Having spent three decades wearing my anonymity proudly, it seems… unseemly, to be recognized by others.
Sitting here, with Radio Caroline on as background sound. I had to reformat the SD this evening, after almost a week of good behavior. Surely there’s a log file that tells me what went wrong (although reformatting does take away that diagnostic tool). Eventually, I’ll master this.
Although the winter is going by without hardship, I did note the cuttings in the banks, this afternoon. Snow banks, not the financial variety. Hard to believe that in three months, the boats will be getting set to “set”. How quickly a year can go by! For now, I’m happy that I’ve got the triumvirate: sufficient heat, food and finances. Makes me realize how I’m profiting from my golden years.
