An unplanned feast
We started the new off in a different manner; the neighbours came to supper. They had to supply part of the menu and the cooking knowhow, but we managed to seat a mixed group of six, and to have everyone leave the table satisfied. No desserts were involved.
Actually, this meal came about by chance. I had a roast of pork that could either be chopped into morsels for a curry, or I could bring out the roasting pan and let things work up to wonderful, slowly. Yes, my roast was delicious. The others had been out walking the laneway, with the dogs, and the idea of celebrating together was almost accidental. I’m glad things went as well as they did.
There had been some searching for gadget chargers, earlier in the day. About the same time that I had second-sourced the missing piece, my sister sent a picture from her apartment, showing off what she had found under a table. Now we will have to depend on the postal people to get the lost and found files back in order.
The storm was cancelled, as well. Although travel was iffy, last night, by today we were back to sunshine. I cleared off the back deck, during the unexpected melt, to avoid dealing with ice later in the week.
The news channels are silent; no war broke out overnight, and the fires in Australia continue to burn. There, the prime minister had decided to authorize an oversize fireworks display, showing that the political class doesn’t have dibs on common sense.
