Let’s review the facts, shall we…
Getting ready to throw away another calendar. Before that, I’ve decided to reflect on good old ’19, and see what I did that took me outside my comfort zone. There were a few firsts, and a few things I don’t foresee doing again.
First of all, I now have two artificial lenses, which I depend on to get through the day (and night). Eye surgery has been high on my priority list over the last fifteen plus years, but now there’s no turning back. Until full ocular transplant becomes a reality, I will deal with my flawed world view by pretending that I can see clearly now (I can’t; I pretend).
This was a big year for me in terms of travel achievements. I can now admit that I have visited all of our provinces, and I STILL prefer the one I call home. My Island. Yes, the mountains were a challenge, and yes, putting a toe in the “other” ocean was ordinary. I finally used my passport (had one since college days, but both of my border crossings dated back to a time when having “your papers” wasn’t required.) Times have changed, and the requirement to remove my sunglasses was real.
Once across the border, I finally experienced getting meals and sleeping under a different flag. Again, not that much of a culture shock, but I can never go back to my virgin traveler status. Maybe I’ll go again. Right now, our dog is as experienced as I am.
I’ve been trying to renew my hobby interests, and experience have new radios and musical toys. The antenna remains a work-in-progress.
Weather wise, we had a hurricane blow through; a real, named system, with effects that weren’t any worse that the ones from all the tinies who came by this past summer. Visitors were a big thing, last summer, and we proved that our house could handle the traffic (as long as we slept in the RV).
I survived two levels of elections, with nary a call from any of those seeking my vote.
And now, I’m preparing software maintenance, wherein I change the unobvious graphic on the front page of this blog. You didn’t notice? All the better, because I didn’t get permission from the appropriate authorities to include their logo.
