Lost in the streams
I’m on a quest. Out there, in the shadowy world we call the Internet, there are thousands of radio station streams. Forget that old-fashioned idea where you have a box on the counter, tuned to the local DJ. I’m talking about the world being your musical oyster.
Now, I’ve been using a gadget, put together on the Raspberry Pi platform. It keeps me entertained for hours, conjuring up the ghosts of Radio Caroline. But, I can’t always crank up the stream, given the shared living space. And so, I’m now set to experiment with a virtual box, on my Windows laptop. The download will take another hour or so, at which point I will “awaken” my VMWare player. It should give me a copy of Volumio that is available when I take the laptop on the road. I hope. If not, YouTube has years of video content.
That’s the point of being “retired”. I can experiment with possibilities, and if I’m not satisfied, I can search for something else. Better, perhaps. Right now, I’m streaming (via a standard Windows media player) something vaguely Celtic. The playlist isn’t shown, and I’m otherwise occupied with getting the dishes done and writing. But, maybe I’ll have something wonderful a bit later. That whole box-of-chocolates approach to life.
The actual articles of impeachment are now out there, and somewhere, a president is wriggling and shouting at the walls. So unfair, he says! I don’t live in the country, but I’d like to see sanity reign, again. The world doesn’t need this kind of entertainment.
