A long view of a lifetime
Part of my rationale for posting regularly is memory enhancement. We all try to keep track of the bigger moments, but the day to day, the mundane moments… they get lost in the proverbial shuffle.
When a friend posted one of those flashback items on social media, specifically, getting together for a meal a couple of years ago, I could fill in the details. Yes, I went to breakfast with a group on the given date. Afterward, we went to the city to buy a freezer and a tiny refrigerator. That restored the day from “probably” to “yes we did”, and it’s worth the time I spend trying to put together a post. I can actually sort out the days from the dates.
This evening, we watched a movie meant for the aged among us. The movie, “The Irishman” is directed by one of the bigger names from Hollywood, and the cast contains a pantheon of the better faces from cinema. The script covers decades, and pulls up moments that I can’t claim to understand. However, I’ll watch this one again, and I’ll read the back story. That’s what a great movie should have us do.
The Oscar fever is starting to build, and this one is among the short listed. I’ll be keeping watch to see if there are any Bests bestowed.
An interesting detail is that some of the main characters progress through a lifetime, and yet we remain curious to see how the story will pan out. That, alone, makes it worthy of awards.
There’s stormy weather coming through; local schools were closed for the afternoon, and the dog didn’t want to be outside for more than minutes at a time. Needless to add, this was a Zero Purchase Friday.
As well, my family tree database moved on past the 90K mark this morning.
