Withdraw from my wire reserves

posted in technology |

If I want to go to bed, with a clear conscience, I’d best get started. Today, I spent the best part of the afternoon on door duty. The dog. That we had two different contractors in the house meant that he was needy. And that translates into a steady “Give me a biscuit” and “Let me outside”. Since I’m his sidekick, I fetched and opened on call. No, my dignity remains intact. After all, this is a covenant. He eats and I protect him from his wildest urges. At least the fox didn’t stop by for a mockery session.

Downstairs, the pulling of wire continues, and finally I had need to withdraw from my copper bank. The question of why I keep so much cabling around here is that there might be need. Today, the spool I had salvaged from a wiring job (a couple of decades ago) finally became useful. As in, it saved me trying to find a way to get to the hardware store, quickly. The amount of wire actually required was small, but without out my provisions, we would have lost a work afternoon. I’m rather please, in retrospect.

Along the two walls in my playroom, there are now electrical sockets. Enough to satisfy my short term needs. Agreed, there is no electricity (yet) because the required breakers are only available in the city, but maybe as soon as tomorrow, or at least early next week that part of the job will be concluded. As well, the walk-in closet in the far corner is now “walk in”. The door will come in short order.
