Death from the haze

posted in health, travel |

From my “I really don’t understand!” files. Vaping. When the president of those United States makes a speech about the new health risk, one has to pause and wonder. You see, I don’t have any urge to breathe air that is polluted. Not from the exhaust of a passing truck, and not from a small device that was designed (apparently) to wean people from self-inflicted injury. The last few weeks have brought reports of deaths by haze, and there’s no explanation coming along, other than that this is the latest in a frontal attack by the tobacco industry on individuals. Haven’t we put up with enough of their corporate nonsense? Please, don’t start, and stop if you already have: coming from one of the industry spokespeople, isn’t the message clear enough?

Moving along. We’re into frost warnings, which means I have to start planning for the winter. Especially, the van winter. I know how to purge the water and sewage systems, and I took the time to document my efforts, last year. Now to pick a date and get ‘er done. There might be an autumn road trip, really soon, but the clock is ticking. If I delay, I could pay (highly) for repairs.

I have a relative who is meandering along the Compostelle. The photos on social media accent that this is pretty country. Do I wantt to go for a long walk on foreign soil? Not yet. Going for a stroll along roads that have welcomed centuries worth of pilgrims is not on my short-term bucket list. I do, however, keep an open mind.
