Look what I (may have) bought

posted in economy, humour |

Among the missives captured in today’s email trawl, an invitation. A chance to attend a supper, celebrating the retirement of some of the “names” from my former workplace. I sent my regrets, realizing that this week marks five years that I’ve been out of the office, permanently. May those who are about to taste freedom enjoy the feeling (as much as I do)!

I’m usually better at avoiding ads on social media, but the offer to purchase magnifying glasses was too good to pass up. For a moderate sum, I’ll soon be able to put on my best nerd. And, if the product is as good as they claim, start working on some of my accumulated collection of partially built electronic kits. Truth hurts, and I admit that I could no longer see the tiny (TINY) components clearly enough to do anything practical with my soldering iron. I might win on this one, and if not, regifting will be an alternative. I’d post a picture, but that assumes this isn’t a scam. I’m unwilling to set myself up for fiscal failure. Oh, wait, why not. Everyone else deserves the giggle that goes along with imagining me actually wearing this contraption.

An after-thought. How could Star Wars have allowed this design to pass their IP test?  “Millenium Face Falcon”.

Outside, it’s cold. For real. Down into single digits, for the first time in months. I had best locate my tuque and mittens. Also, that hurricane did some damage I hadn’t noticed until now: one of my pine trees is now short(er). The log on the ground is too large to haul away without assistance, so it may become a wildlife refuge, going forward.
