Unusual closure
Please note that my local general store will be closed tomorrow. That is exceptional; other than the usual Christmas closure, they’re there, always. Tomorrow, however, is an exception. The baby girl in the family is getting married! My congratulations to the couple, their families, all the cousins; may this be for a long time and a good time.
Meanwhile, my family: son #2 and consort are off for a camping excursion, by bicycle. The fast passage of our storm system made this possible, and after a healthy breakfast they were off to explore the National Park. I’m going to guess that tent sites are available, this late into the summer cycle. If not, we have golf courses galore, and unless you schedule your stay poorly (think during a tournament) you should be able to enjoy the greenest grass around.
Son #1 is ready to head back home; work tends to make vacation time into a limited offer. He’ll be back at his desk at the beginning of the week, although the phone tether meant that he never really had it on hold. Wait until he learns about retirement! I say that with the fervent hope that such a status change will still be a thing when he reaches an appropriate age. With the economy as dependent on the crazies at the top, that’s not a given.
I’ve been trying to source a hand switch. Didn’t realize I needed one until recently, and the prices for items that are essentially obsolete are scary. I’ve checked in three different countries, as well as via eBay, and I can’t get my head around the shipping charges. Remember, this is an item that will fit in my hand. I shouldn’t have to pretend that it’s as larger as a steamer trunk and destined for a foreign port.
