Quick schedule compromise
Forget schedules. This is summer, and when the call came in that our next round of visitors would arrive a full day early, meaning today, it simply meant starting my preps a little earlier. All is done, the family is here, and this will be the fifth “tiny” of our summer. All involved are related to us, as a couple, by blood or not.
I know my stories. Giving a house tour to someone isn’t stressful, although I might start work on the text for a third language any day now. After all, when learning to speak in a new tongue, best to go with the familiar. That might have been the shortfall of the classical schools; we had no experience with Roman armies or house heated from the fires below. Yes, I speak from my own years in front of a blackboard.
As for my antenna experiments, the control box has been ordered. Now I can start putting my details in order. What size of main loop? What size of secondary loop (the two are intertwined)? Will I add a reduction gear and start playing with my three other variable capacitors (which I measured for the first time this afternoon). Hang in there; the story is unfolding as it should.
Not much else to add, today. I didn’t stray far from this area (see paragraph one for motivation). And the weather is still on our side; no rain yet (today) or in the short term forecast. My own kids will be here over the weekend (which is now, right?) Might have to play imaginary tetris for the permutations of sleeping space.
