The area has great potential
First, you make a plan. We’re at the point, after more than four years, where the basement is starting to feel unfinished. Sure, there are walls, and doors. The two windows allow us to see outside. But, that drab grey of the unpainted gyproc doesn’t give you a warm, cuddly feeling.
And so, after seeing the “proof of concept”, we’ve called in someone local that has done decent reno work elsewhere. OK, in his own home and shop, but that counts. We invited him over, this evening, did a simple walk through and put our hopes, wishes and dreams out on the table. He didn’t flinch, or flee.
We’re going to move to the next step, where we’ll try to get the additional electrical work completed before he comes in to make the area “friendly”. Closets. Doors that swing and close. A hung ceiling (over an area of 1200 feet, give or take a bit). It won’t be instantaneous, but it will certainly be faster than the efforts of father and son from the in-house team.
I’m keen. Although I don’t go all proud, I’d like to say that the house is finished, before I’m too old to care any more. Some proper shelving would mean that we could unpack the cartons and start to throw away (the stuff we haven’t really needed since back early in the decade). I might be able to move beyond “eventually” and actually start to produce tunes. It could happen!
Imagine, a summer that isn’t predicated by the weather alone. Maybe the kids will get keen and visit us during the middle of winter. It could happen!
