Mixing the routine with the immediate
Time to restart my routines. Now, don’t get all “he’s going to exercise” with me, as I have other priorities. Some are simple: chop some ASA into my daily dosage. Others involve the dog. Can I actually find, cut and eat some cheese from the refrigerator before he clues in? Actually, yes, if I tie him outside first. But that’s cheating.
I also have to check the calendar, to see if I have any responsibilities. Getting the garbage out to the curb, for example. I’ve missed the blue bags again, so the next time around will involve a pile. Three months worth? Sure. As well, although our mail was picked up during the time away, there’s always more on the way. Best that I drive down and check the locker. I called the HVAC guy, to mention that we were (once again) ready for his installers.
My new radio, by contrast, required my full attention. As something I do about once per decade, I don’t have a plan. Getting some Powerpoles on the wires required a refresher course. Testing the new radio, while proving that my antenna needs maintenance, reassured me that the unit wasn’t DOA. I did hear a few stations, and it can only improve. I did upgrade the firmware, using a memory card that came in today’s mail. Everything at the right moment. And I mailed off my rebate coupon.
Unpacking the RV wasn’t high on my list, but I am interrupt-driven. As of this evening, the majority of our stuff is back in the house, and I have been told that my sleeping bag is now laundered and packed away until the next need. That’s good. Never know when I might have to go and see the world for a few weeks.
