Some confusion over the hour
Can’t blame my appointment book, so I’m going to point a finger at the concept of time zones. We just spent the last seven weeks trying to reconcile our various e-gadgets with our progress across the continent. At one point, in order to make the display time on my iPad match my “local hour”, I had to lock the time parameter in the control panel. Didn’t think about it any more than that; when we got home, I started our house clocks and used the iPad as a time reference. Are you still with me? Our clocks were set to New York rather than Halifax… off by an hour.
Fast forward to this morning. With a minor medical appointment for just before lunch, we left home. The glitch is that we had one hour less time for the trip than required at legitimate highway speeds. I called the clinic, and the answering machine assured me that someone would call me back within the next few days.
As it turned out, the receptionist didn’t seem to care. The doctor politely wondered if he was late or if I was. And life went on. See him again in four months, yada yada.
Also on our to do list was some shopping for a shower stall. We managed to visit three wholesalers before going off to eat.
And here we are, back home. I’m trying to resolve a conflict between my VPN and my Netflix. Have to navigate the firewall parameters in my wireless router. Tomorrow. Might need the help of their tech group, and I want to tackle that with the power of daylight on my side.
