Sensory fog
We made it through Night One, without freezing; that bodes well for the next few weeks. Today was not scheduled for travel, as we have family to visit. However, we also had to schedule a sudden visit to the garage, when the side door refused to open. Or close. Actually, the whole door seemed to be caulght in one of those curious sensor fogs, where nothing works as planned. Not exactly robotic, but close enough.
No big deal. The garage was ready to see us, shortly after lunch, and in a couple of hours they had repaired the glitch, along with an airbag replacement under recall. Total bill: $57. In the world of the RV, hardly more than a sneeze on a sunny day.
Actually, I stayed back in the comfort of the living room of son #1, in the company of two dogs that alternately slept and argued over food ownership. I didn’t interfere in a dispute between old friends. By the time supper was served, and my food seemed more interesting than a bowl of kibble, life returned to normal.
For me, a chance to sort out my personal electronics: with wifi, I could cut the tether to cell band service, as my monthly quota is far from limitless.
Also, some time to simply gab with kids. Son #3 dropped by for the afternoon, and son #1 had a “va et vient” from work. My new familial reality. Meanwhile, the keeper of the (van) keys had some quality personal time in a salon where the treatment was queenly. That’s how vacation should work.
