New tires, should I care to stare

posted in politics |

I haven’t gone out to actually see them, but we have new snow tires. This is something that only happens a couple of times a decade, thankfully, as special rubber commands a special price. However, the local garage did the job, with a minimum of fuss, and if winter should return, we’re ready.

Meanwhile, summer is only a few months away. There’s a cold snap moving through the continent, which distracts us from the good things. And as I pointed out to son #3: with no need to wait for the bus, I don’t notice the nasty effects of nature.

There must be an election coming. The comments from the Opposition, in Ottawa, are getting a sharper edge. Nasty seems to be the flavor of the day. I wonder if (in my lifetime) I’ll ever see helpful commentary from the folks that gladly accept high wages for no effort. Our political system has checks and balances, but from where I sit, the balance seems to be nothing more than hyperbole.

I’ve moved my ongoing dispute with a seller on eBay into a new game. Since she won’t issue a refund, I’ve asked for a resend. Now, I have to assume that there’s a cost involved, at her end, that will at some point equal the amount held “in trust” on my behalf. Plus, these messages, back and forth, require some effort. My time is cheap.

Apple has admitted that their Facetime app has a small bug; you can attach to another device and simply listen in, if they fail to pick up. Spyware, simplified.
