Just in time for the holiday
Why, just look at the calendar. We’re already up to Xmas Eve, which can only mean one thing. Yes, the movie cupboard over at Hallmark is almost empty!
I didn’t realize how this worked, originally. The first few days, I believed that they were digging into the archives. (The ghosts of Christmas Past.) Until I learned that the corporation presented thirty-two new masterpieces, just for the 2018 season. Without their effort, the movie industry in Vancouver would fade away.
One bit of optimism remains. I haven’t heard that they have projects involving Boxing Day, or NY Eve, or the Year Ahead. We can return to “all Murdoch Mysteries, all the time”… soon.
I jest, lightly and politely. After finding out that there are active communities on Twitter, with a similar mindset, I’m relieved. This is not prejudicial action. When #Hallmarkmoviesin5words is out there, and trending, I can continue to dream of Christmas Future. Did you know that Danica McKellar stars in one of the final titles for 2018?
We’ve downsized, this year. No kids. No travel. No turkey (AKA bone avoidance). Our menu is non-conformist and open to rapid shifts, based on impulse bingeing. Pizza as a proper meal? You bet! I did offer one chicken lunch (yesterday). Thank you, Mr. Lipton, for that soup in a sack choice. Some boiling water, a few minutes of simmer time and we were enjoying the odor of fowl (not foul).
Outside, I noticed the absence of snow on the ground. This is an honest-to-goodness green Christmas, unless there’s a sudden flurry of activity overnight.
