The wonder of KD

posted in food |

Sooner or later, they’ll produce one of those “Moments” for the TV. “KD, part of our Canadian Heritage”

Whether it’s fresh off the stove top, or just in from a microwave reheat, the product stands the test of time and tummy. Sure, the nutritional score is mediocre, but it stands tall next to Romaine. And at a buck a box (plus better and milk), you can feed a small family, once or twice. Reheat proof.

We probably have other iconic dishes, here in the Great White. A bowl of stew, for example. But that requires a lot more preparation, and access to a stock of root vegetables and chewy beef. Or how about bacon and eggs, although the price of that sliced meat continues to rise, in lockstep with shrinking package sizes. As a consumer, pay attention!

I’m going to go to bed, tonight, with my need for bland pasta fulfilled. I wonder if Italy knows about KD?

One of my siblings posted a necessary reminder on FB: “Stop it with all the stupid stuff!” I agree. And while the topic is on the table, could we stop believing that there is a wealth of free stuff coming down the pipe, if only one will Like and Share. No, it’s not. Nobody is offering you coupons worth a year’s groceries, or a car that didn’t sell. Really. No. Just stop.

I’m now tightly tuned to local weather and road reports.  No plans to go away, or even go outside, but it’s seasonal. We need to know when the plow passed YOUR house, even if we have no idea where you live.
