As long as the juice supply improves

posted in environment |

I’m so proud of myself. The deck is cleared of snow, as we head into a week of nasty weather, so I’m starting with a, wait for it… clean deck. Sorry, I had to.

Anyhow, the kids might get hit with a real storm; here, we’re just going for crappy weather. I happened across an article dealing with snow tires, this evening. I believe in them, unlike some of the neighbours, but I realize there’s a cost involved. Particularly if your car is near the end of its life. Seems the industry has developed something of interest: all weather, which are not the same as all season. Same rubber compound as a real snow tire, similar tread patterns, lower cost. Must look into this, for next year.

Up in ON, big news of plant closure in the auto industry. Didn’t we, the people, give them a lot (A LOT) of money just a few years ago? Makes those jobs worth too many dollars. The company, in this case GM, has dreams of being ready for the next big thing… electric cars. Need to rationalize their delivery system. I’d like to underline a certain absence of charging stations at the same time. Hard to own a car that requires staying at home (or close by) most of the time, because you can’t get any more juice at critical moments.

I dreamed of a mobile battery pack, several cars ago, but quickly realized the flaw. Now, if the big boys get involved, we could move from “only the chosen few” into something better, in terms of energy use.
