Whack it again, harder
Last evening, the temperature dropped and light flurries started. Nothing of importance, but it helped to know that I had fully winterized the RV.
Or had I? One niggling doubt remained. During that last podcast, the narrator had mentioned the outdoor shower. We have one of those. Never used it, because the connector wouldn’t connect on either of the two blue spiral hoses we had found in the bottom of one storage cupboard. But there were taps attached, so it must have a specific purpose.
Back to Google. Others reported a similar problem with the connector. Maybe the advice on an attached label had a deeper meaning… “Stick a small screwdriver into the connector and hit it with a hammer, hard”. How hard is hard? I kept reading. “Gave the thing a good whack and it started working”. “Sprayed some WD-40 inside and used force”. OK. I get it. Sometimes the necessary force exceeds expectation.
This afternoon, armed with a can of penetrating spray and a nail set, I returned to the dark side of the van. Sprayed, whacked, tried the blue hose again. And it worked! After turning on the water pump, I sprayed pink stuff into the air. Yes! It didn’t matter that I got some on my face; the associated literature assured me that the product is non-toxic, if less than delicious in taste.
I can now go back to my life, content that the impending cold months should be just a brief interlude. Sure, there’s that other question about jelled fuel, but we’ll see what that actually means. Later.
