Efficiency in the malls

posted in computing, food, travel |

Turns out there going shopping in the city can be very successful, particularly when one has already lived there for decades. No problem to go quickly from one item to another on the list, even when it requires a different merchant for each instance. Today, we got things done.

I now have a debit card, and a second key for utility hatches on the van, and some new pants that actually fit me, and a printer with ink and paper for son #3. And that’s just my list. Overall, we are now ready for the next leg of our voyage, two days hence.

It was an excellent opportunity to “hang” with the kids, even if food seems to be the predicate. I ate too much, more than once. I guess with the snarky weather we couldn’t do much else.

Somewhere along the way, we stopped to look in on son #2’s brew factory. Without the requisite hard hat and work boots we weren’t permitted to wander, but next time we’ll know where to find the place.

This evening, I’m tasked with backing up some data sets. External hard drives make things like that feasible. One of our laptops is going out on temporary loan, so certain spirits will rest better.

So far, we are making slow progress due to write permissions in that other OS. As much as I find Windows to be obtuse, Mac is positively arcane, in a very non-positive sense. This could be a late evening…

No matter. I don’t have to be anywhere else for now.
