Not party to the struggle

posted in economy, environment |

There are four planets arrayed along the ecliptic right now. Would be quite a view, except for some misplaced clouds. Oh well, maybe this time tomorrow.

For the first time in weeks, we joined “our group” for breakfast this morning. Another sign that winter approaches, as people try to fit in final moments of communal activity. I know; sacrilegious to act as if summer won’t go on for (a very long time). But, while out closing the BBQ, I could feel the difference in temperature from only a week ago. Hurricane season is ramping up quickly, with a handful over the water right now. Nothing tracking through here, so far.

I don’t own a company, so I’m not party to the struggle, but it looks like that clause in NAFTA which invites companies to sue governments for “potential loss of profits” might get written out. Now that’s news worth repeating, if it is true. In what moment of insanity did the pursuit of personal riches trump the common good? Hint, it didn’t start with Trump, but it could end on his watch. Oh, the risk of being a member of the idle rich. Meanwhile, the rest of us will continue trying to make ends meet.

I did have to go out this afternoon, to get a canister of gas. I now know that I can fit the entire volume into the fuel tank on the Green Monster. Still don’t know how many “yard tours” that equals. Maybe I need to develop a calculator (in Visual Basic?)
