Cut them all down to size

posted in environment, politics |

That feeling where, as darkness sets in, knowing that you have a job to get done. In this case, just like every other month, the “recup”; it has to hit the curb before bedtime, because the truck might be early.

We had a lot of cardboard boxes on hand, thanks to our friends at Amazon. After a good half-hour with a sharp knife, I had reduced the pile to something manageable. Add in the four weeks of bottles and containers made from graded plastics, and my pile by the curb was complete. Still dark outside, so I was on time and ready to relax for another thirty days.

Why so late? Well, we had gone to a nearby restaurant for supper, and on the way back noted a serious smoke plume across the fields. Actually, we had noted the plume before supper, but since it was still apparent (almost two hours later), we needed to get close enough to identify the source (and any attendant dangers). This time around, nothing more than a huge, controlled brush burn, but it took some back field driving to be sure.

Finished reading a second “tell-all” from the Orange Palace. I had worked through “Fire And Fury” some months back, and still wanted to know more, so I procured a copy of “Unhinged”. Without knowing the coefficient of veracity, it made for interesting reading. We might have mediocre governance, but our neighbours have derailed the train. I can only wait for the next chapter. And someday there’ll be a blockbuster of a movie; heck, a series of movies. History isn’t always neat and clean.
