The benefit of a deep well
Our local news program came with two different segments, dealing with forest fires elsewhere. Is this a heads-up? Are we supposed to figure that our natural firebreak (all that open water) won’t be enough to save us, should the sparks start to bridge the gap? I’ve got my water hoses on standby.
Actually, talking to one of my neighbours served as a reinforcement that our choice to get larger, deep water wells was wise (sorry about the alliteration there). This family lives with a well dating back a generation; fully one-fifth the depth of mine, without the technological improvement of a jet pump. Right now, they’re rationing the home water use. No unnecessary garden spray, no long showers, etc. I wouldn’t want to have the added edge in my life of the kitchen tap providing mud instead of water.
The postal person brought a large box with our new floor mats for the new rig. I didn’t know that was on the “needed” list, but I guess it can’t hurt. After all, we might be out of mud season right now, but there are months of potential road time ahead. Best to get things ready, in advance. I have a new pillow on my bed, which might be related. Have to ask some pointed questions. Takes me time to get used to a new pillow. Just saying.
Not that I need one, but apparently McDo has released a commemorative coin to salute a half-century of Big Macs. Getting in the car and driving for a couple of hours in the heat is not in my best interest, so I’ll be watching for a sale on eBay, or something.
My family tree database passed the 80K mark this afternoon.
