Go for messy

posted in food, politics |

About six months back, while on a trip to Halifax, I set out to find the Donair Cam. Didn’t choose the right counter, but I opted to test the product at hand. Pretty standard. Filled the hunger pangs. Allowed me to move forward.

This evening, while out getting food for others, I opted to “get” the local version. Good choice. Exceedingly messy. Lined with dangerously thin foil; a knife and fork allowed me to avoid the worst of the sauce. But, it was very good! Left the dog frustrated, because I don’t always want to share

Day three of the dozer dance is over, and I can see form where there was only a pile of dirt. If they can get the layer of crushed stone on top, we can get back to regular planned parking.

The second of the summer visits is over. The next round could be as early as next week. Plenty of excuses to try local restaurants, as an alternative to BBQ overdose. I realize just how fleeting the summer can be, when I spotted a ticket pitch – for a figure skating show some  100+ days away.

Meanwhile… a cabinet shuffle in the federal government. The first sign that elections aren’t that far away. I know; I am scheduled to attend a nomination meeting at the provincial level, next week. The two levels of governance are similar to well-meshed gears. I care too much about the power of the lunatic fringe to not pay attention. The devolution could happen here, just like in other places.
