In the land of the preemptive lawsuit

posted in politics, travel |

Got your cray-cray cap on? Well, someone in Las Vegas certainly does. The owner of the hotel where a mass shooting took place in October 2017 has launched lawsuits against the survivors of the tragedy. Some of them. If a person doesn’t already have a case file open against the hotel, this is being done as a preemptive attack. Or as one spokesperson put it succinctly: “the most outrageous thing I have ever seen”. Have to agree.

We were sitting with a neighbour, this evening, discussing travel ideas. Frankly, I have no real interest in visiting a country that seems to have lost any semblance of sanity. Might be forced to circle “the Point” for the next few years, staying within hailing distance of home.

We went out for scallops at suppertime. So good. I imagine that one would tire of those succulent little morsels of muscle, in superabundance. But, on a casual summer budget, the restaurants can continue to offer their platters when I come by. Oddly, we’ve ignored that section of the supermarket during the winter months. Going to have to find a few good recipes and up my game.

How many among you have ever upgraded firmware in a gadget? Not difficult, but it qualifies as an act of faith. Take something that works and see if you can “brick it”. Just knowing that there’s a common expression for the sad outcome tells me that many try (and many fail). Yes, today worked in a specific instance, but things could easily have gone wrong.
