Rainy day distractions
A classic distraction for a rainy afternoon: wander around an oversize hardware store. Big; I counted more than 60 sections, and I wasn’t even checking out that area near the main door. I could buy almost anything there. Even dog food (no, sorry Hairy Bits, I didn’t. My bad). Or an oversize garden swing.
I did test the garden swing, but I was unable to approve it, given the current low temperatures. What was that windchill reading from earlier this week? 4C. I would look odd, dressed in my parka, on a big swing set. Must do things that make sense.
However, we now have a lovely 30A extension cord with a “dog bone” (no, sorry Hairy Bits, you weren’t the object of this purchase). I’m learning lingo, and the “dog bone” is useful if I have to connect my 30A cable to a 50A outlet. I haven’t figured out when I would do that, but I’m still a noob here. Anyhow, after getting through the test at the till, where the employee tries to figure out which of those 60 sections of the store (see above) has pricing information that will serve to satisfy the POS system. I wonder how you train people for jobs like that. Oh, they don’t… well, that explains other distractions from the afternoon.
We bought some other things: I saw a DVD of old movies, and some packed pillows. No dog biscuits. By the time we cleared the entrance area, I was due for a hamburger or two (probably an implanted autosuggestion from going through the BBQ section).
