The umbrella as a water collector

posted in environment |

Having a few more people in the house doesn’t change much. Still have to get up in the morning, perform libations, eat. Perhaps a touch of scheduling (although with three separate bathrooms, even that goes by smoothly). No, it’s more getting used to seeing extra faces in what is normally a house for two-and-a-dog. That’s the difference; the second dog!

Actually, the crowds were off to the beach for the afternoon, which meant a return to my routine. And when they came back, and the late lunch was done, I realized we had an alternative for desserts.

Today, there was a province-wide celebration for our Trail, and one of the points to gather the crowds and offer bouncy-castle toys was just down the way. We put two cars on go and went for our share of the ice cream and blueberries. In the rain. That was the hiccup, thrown in at the last moment. No train rides, but the museum was open for a quick tour, and the dishes of dairy were free for the asking.

I turned the umbrella over (as a water collector) and found a place with minimum shelter. After all, summer rain is refreshing. At the end of the afternoon, we had a quick beach tour (playing at tourist, of course) without spotting either a tuna or a shark. The sun came out, and the cars headed off (again) to the beach for a late evening swim. I played the wise old man and stayed put (with the dogs).

I don’t know how it happened, but there were even more people in the kitchen when I came back upstairs…
