Insufficient payback will kill the print run

posted in economy, food |

Call me responsible. In the good sense, as in “keeping an eye on things” rather than “to blame for what went wrong”. Language isn’t always precise. Anyhow, I decided to go and see if the weekend events had been well-received. Other than a downtick in attendance, it was. Hard to be sure if the crowds had stayed away because there was an event, or if they were just part of the end of the season.

I had a chance to reflect, and I’m convinced that this is as good a time as any to reactivate my station. Try a new mode or two. Get back into the hobby. I’ll keep you posted.

Had company from the city this afternoon; the annual visit to this end of the known world. A chance for us to show off the new deck furniture.

This evening, I decided to take “the kid” and go for a sit down meal in Souris. Great seafood at a fair price. Another chance to convince him about the infinite possibilities offered in the country for advancement (not sure if he bought into my arguments). Still a few more days. If the partial eclipse wasn’t enough, what else can I offer?

In the news, not much. One of the “national newspapers” has decided to interrupt print service to this end of the country, citing insufficient payback for the printing and delivery investment. I feel their pain. I can’t afford to pay for a print paper either. Not exactly the same reasoning. When we’re all forced to get our “feed” online, what will people line their pet cages with?
