Should I get an artificial cat?

posted in environment |

We have a cuckoo clock. Brought back as a souvenir from an European sojourn. Some years ago, the clock stopped; with it, the little bird that used to remind me how many more hours until morning was silenced. And a great calm covered my land. Today, I learned that a cousin will be coming to live with us. Should I get an artificial cat?

There is also an offer for the phonograph that anchored the basement (in the other house) to rejoin our collection of artifacts. No matter that the mainspring is kaput! I’m wondering if this is part of a long term plot to remove the last of my sanity.

The lawn would have been mown, this afternoon, except for the arrival of a hare that sat down for the feast. I doubt his ability to trim almost two acres of “growth in progress”, but hares have priority. Particularly as a means of keeping them alive (while they nibble, they avoid contact with fast moving automobiles).

I’m come to grips with a reality of life in the retirement zone. If I sit in a comfortable chair, I risk snoring. The two go together, like toast and jam. I probably need the extra nap time, right?

Has anyone taken a tally of the dog videos on YouTube? Or cat videos? Or other animal videos (hedgehogs have a certain charm)? I could go from napping to watching cute animals, to the exclusion of pretty much everything else. Holy Cow! I’m slipping over the edge here. Haul me back, folks!
