Trivially beaten

posted in education |

Tonight, a break in routine. We gathered up our team of trivial nomads and headed off to test the opposition. 45 minutes, each way. We didn’t win. I blame the results on a combination of factors; hunger and poor acoustics. Who knew that a hockey rink could have such reverberations. At one point, I considered asking for an interpreter…

It doesn’t matter. We didn’t announce our presence (they wouldn’t have heard us, in any case). We’ll return to regular competition on the weekend, and I’ve heard rumours of chicken wing sales, so hunger can be removed from the list of handicaps.

I had my community group meeting earlier this evening. No trivia involved. We made our way through a heavy agenda without incident, and based on the treasurer’s report, we’re doing better than expected. Half the summer is gone.

Not many new strawberries coming out of the garden right now. I’ve heard that blackberries are in season; might be time to go and beat the hedgerows. Or I can go back to cold grapes as my fruit portion. There are also some small tomatoes on display. Too tiny to harvest, but soon, soon. I like sliced tomatoes with my BBQ.

Considering a binge watch of Twin Peaks. I missed the series, first time around. Something to do with new family responsibilities and a regularly scheduled gig in a workplace. Now I have the time, and I can beat my way through fifty hours of highly rated content in, well, fifty hours. Doesn’t have to be continuous.
